The continent of Africa has been home to several ancient philosophies. We earlier saw the serer religion a complex and a rich philosophy that aligns itself well with the ancient Dharmic thoughts. We see in the Akan yet another ancient religion that aligns with the tenets of this ancient wisdom.
This similarity between Akan faith and Dharma is striking as soon as we come to the concept of God. The Akan Refer to god energy as Onyankopōn. This like Brahman is infinite and impersonal in nature. Like the qualified aspects of the Brahman in Hindu Dharma, the Akan too have the concept of divinities qualified aspects of the infinite, created by the infinite.
